Ryan's b-day and Random Fun

We have had a busy and fun past two weekends, but I didn't take many pictures! I don't know what I was thinking. Ryan turned the big 3-0 this past week, so I surprised him last weekend with an overnight trip to Austin. We haven't done that since Cooper was born, so we had lots of fun! Unfortunately I am very pregnant by now and don't love being outside in the heat, so I'm not sure I was tons of fun to be with :) We did get to shop some, go out to eat at Ryan's fav restaurant down there, and go get some yummy ice cream as well. Not to mention sleeping in! We stayed at a bed and breakfast, and I have never done that before. It was actually pretty fun. We didn't get any pics of the room but here's the outside of the bed and breakfast. Can't see it very well with the trees.


On Ryan's actual b-day his parents were in town, so we celebrated with cake and ice cream. Please don't judge the cake, I got lazy and decided not to decorate it. Ryan said he didn't mind :) Cooper LOVED blowing out the candles.

I think I put something in his hair, I can't remember though. I just thought he looked sweet in this picture.

Before Ben and Eliz left on their vacation to the cabin (Wish we were there!!) we had them over for the day and made some art. The pictures are kind of blurry b/c I had it on a weird setting and of course didn't know how to fix it. Had to have Laura help me. I don't know what I'd do without her knowledge of cameras! Here they are showing their coloring. We used washable markers and then...

Sprayed it with water. I saw it on a blog and the pics turned out so cute. I think we sprayed too much water on it because basically all of the color came off the pics. Oh well, it was fun.

Fun Friday!

We had a fun and busy day this past Friday! First, we went swimming at my mom and dad's. Laura came too, along with four of our friends, and their kids. It was a full swimming pool, and so much fun! (Except for Cooper's screaming fit, but that only lasted a minute or two :))

I didn't take a ton of pics (for some reason the moms didn't want their pictures taken?? :) but I did get a few.



This one was actually taken on a different day. In the last few times Cooper has been swimming, he has wanted to swim by himself! He won't even let us hold onto him much. Of course he has his "muscles" on and a noodle, but still! He can even swim fairly well by himself with just his muscles on, but someone has to be RIGHT by him since he goes under quite a bit. He's so proud of himself!

After we swam we went to Cicis pizza, the kids favorite! Here's our group.











Fri evening we went to dinner at our friends Jeff and Gena's house. Here is Cooper with their daughter Julia. She just turned a year a few months ago. He was pretty gentle with her, yea!! I'm still working with him so he'll be gentle with our new baby, we'll see! We had a great time eating dinner and hanging out with them. Thanks guys!

Playing with Ashlynn and Hunter

We went to my friend Dana's house this week to play with her daughter Ashlynn, and our other friend Ashleigh came over with her son Hunter. We had such a fun time playing! Ashlynn is a year older than the boys (3) and the boys are only about a week apart.

I'm in a big boy bed!

(I actually had that hat from school and brought it home, and he thought it was SO fun to put it on and wear it! I also found a picture of myself dressed up like the cat in the hat from an event at school, so I'm thinking about putting the embarrassing pic in his room, thought it was too funny to pass up... we'll see.)


Getting ready to sleep in his bed for the first time. (don't you love the corner protector on the window sill? I know, looks awful, I need to get something more permanent!) It actually went ok last night, a little worse than I thought though. I thought he would just be so excited! At first he was. I made him a book with photos of him doing all of his night time routine, and there was a pic of him in his big boy bed in the book. So he was excited and we talked about it a lot. But then as we were tucking him in and saying goodnight, he started crying "no sleep in big boy bed!" He actually was wiping away tears, it was SO sad! We went in to say goodnight to his crib, and he starting saying "sleep in my crib!" I almost caved then and there. But I didn't really know a better time to have him start sleeping in his new room, so we stayed firm and he ended up falling asleep with me only having to go in his room twice to lay him down. Yea!!! So we'll see how he does tonight. It's naptime right now and he fell asleep in the car, then didn't stay asleep when I layed him down so he's been rolling around in his bed for over an hour. But at least he's staying in his bed!

More fun with cousins!

This past week was my day to watch Ben and Eliz (I only had Eliz for the morning, she went with my mom for lunch and the afternoon ) so I tried to plan a few fun activities for us all to do.


I thought this was just funny, all of the kids in Cooper's bed. (He has not slept in it yet, I'm thinking maybe Mon night...)

The first thing we did was make firecrackers. Here they are right before we started.

Making them. I saw it in a magazine and it was actually very easy!

Ben stayed in Cooper's bed so while I was getting the bed ready, the boys were playing in Cooper's room. They were laughing and laughing, and when I came in, this is what they had done! Taken EVERYTHING out of the dresser. Fun fun.

The snack we had. Very unhealthy but I thought the boys would get a kick out of it. (it's supposed to be a firetruck, the picture in the magazine looked a lot more like a fire truck!)

Summer Project Number Two (Cooper's new room/bath)

Well, I have gotten fairly far on my second summer project, Cooper's "big boy room." Here are a few "before" pictures...

It originally was Ryan's office, then our guest room, then Cooper's play room/guest room.


Here are the after. We're doing a Cat in the Hat theme, for the most part. (it's kind of messy, I was watching Ben that day and as you can see, he and Cooper are wrestling in the pic)

We still need to get a curtain or something for the window.



My main project for the room, besides painting it, was making something for decorations. Here's a close up of the canvas above Cooper's bed.

The room is definitely not done yet, because this entire wall is just a big white space. I have a few ideas but probably won't do anything for a little while because I am being very indecisive!!!

same with above the length of his bed. Oh well, at least he can move in. We're thinking maybe this weekend we'll try him in his big boy bed! Woo hoo! We'll see.


Then his bathroom was the other project. In February I painted the walls blue and we put up the shower curtain, but that was all we did.

This week I added the waves and the C/J. I'm going to hopefully get an "&" sign and decorate it to put between the two letters. I think it'll make more sense. ("J" is for Jackson, our new baby-to-be!)

So that's it! So glad the project is getting finished. We're still painting the closet so our extra bedroom is a pit with all of the closet stuff. Hopefully that will get finished this weekend!

A day at home
