Cooper's Actual Birthday

The day after his birthday Cooper had PK so we took treats to his class. He loved having us bring treats to his class!
Here are some of his classmates. They wanted to do a "silly" picture.
Here is Cooper's table being silly.
Oh cute birthday boy :).
Cooper and his teacher Mrs. S. I love her!
On Cooper's birthday he woke up to a room full of balloons and all of his presents from us. He had so much fun with his presents from his friends he didn't notice we just slipped all of his from us back in our room. I figured he'd like them better on his actual birthday.
Cooper chose his birthday breakfast- fruit loops and whipped cream with peaches. He remembered that I did the whipped cream and peaches for April Fools Day and requested that he have it for lunch. Isn't that so funny?
Cooper chose his birthday dinner- he wanted to go to McDonalds! Funny funny boy. He loves playing in the play area. This was actually the first time we had taken him to the play area in McD's as a family! Kind of crazy!
Enjoying that yummy McD's food :).
Aww sweet boys. So fun celebrating his birthday!

Activities for the Pirate Party

When all the kids arrived I had a table set up for them to get their pirate gear (eye patches, hats, tattoos-girls got bandanas and face jewels). Then on the table where they ate I had little swords and telescopes for them. My plan was for them to decorate them, but they pretty much grabbed them and went outside to play swords!

Here are almost all of the kids at the party, all pirated up!
We then did a little treasure hunt. I had a few activities set up for them all to complete, then they received the final clue to find the treasure. The first activity was to "dive" into the pond and find a gold coin. Laura got a few good action shots of kids jumping in!

Next they had to cross the bridge without falling off (had to step on the x's)
We made it! Before we started the games we practiced saying pirate lingo. I think I was having them say something here!

Then we turned Cooper into a pirate. I got the idea to use his face from Laura-one year at Elizabeth's party she had the girls turn E into a princess. I was planning on printing out a big 11 x 14 photo or bigger which can be kind of expensive, but then she told me to just bring in a photo to office max and enlarge the pic on a color copy. Genius! So much cheaper.
The kids waited so patiently! Here's the birthday boy!
The finished pirates.
No pirate party is complete without walking the plank! If it had been warmer I think it would have been fun to put it over a baby pool, but they would have been chilly falling in! :)

Here I'm giving them the clue to find the treasure.
It was SO difficult to find...under the baby pool! (they found it in about 2 seconds!)
Afterward we ate pizza and desserts but the pizza wasn't quite there yet, so Ryan had the idea to "sink each other's ships" by stacking up two teams of cups and then having a ball fight. The kids loved it.
Cooper loved every minute of it.
Here are the kids eating lunch.
The birthday boy with his cupcake.
We ended with opening presents and the kids ran around and played.
A picture of the "treasure", I wanted to remember it!We had such a fun time! Cooper was so sad when it was over, I think he' d like a birthday every month! :)

Happy 5th Birthday Cooper!

I can't believe Cooper is 5 and will be heading to kindergarten soon! So sad, but I'm so proud of the boy he's becoming! We had his birthday party a few days before his birthday so he was excited to have so many days of celebrations! Grandma and Grandpa S visited for his birthday and both boys were SO excited to have them here! I got a picture of almost all of the kids at the party, but I can't believe I didn't get any of the grown-ups. So NO pictures of any of the grandparents...so mad at myself!

I took LOTS of pictures so prepare yourself for some pirate fun! :)

Cooper woke up to the sign on his bathroom mirror. My mom gave me the idea so I'm going to try to do that for the kids every year on their birthday.

I decorated the whole house while Cooper was sleeping so the morning of the party he woke up and looked at all his decorations. Here he's holding the pirate book I had all of the guests sign for a keepsake.

We let him open one or two presents right away in the morning. My oh my he begged and begged to open more. Needless to say he was excited about presents!

Cooper and daddy!

The mantel with my beautiful treasure map (I'm being sarcastic if you didn't get that!)

I made Cooper pose a lot for pictures!

Scary Cooper!

Tattoos are a must for a pirate!

I love this picture of him! :)

Right when the kids walked in the house I had this little station set up to become a pirate.
More decorations...
I saw this cupcake stand idea somewhere online. The person who made it made one for every single child who attended the party! I think that would be so cute if they were more generic so you could use them over and over for parties. But I went the easy route and just made one for Cooper.
The party table.

Saw this of course on pinterest!

There were a few little kids there (J's age) so this was their table.
My littlest pirate!
Our family at the party! This was becoming long so I'll post pictures of the activities next!
